A huge fire accident in the Srisailam Hydel project during the early hours of Friday. The fire is said to be a result of a short circuit in the project.
Nearly 30 members were in the project during the time of this accident, and 21 of them had escaped via the escape tunnels. Nine people died in this fire accident. Six bodies have been recovered by rescue and trying to pull out others from underground plant.
TS minister Jagadish Reddy and Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao reached the spot and are overseeing rescue efforts.
The mishap occurred in the first unit of the power station and four panels were damaged. The Srisailam dam is located across the Krishna river which serves as the border between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
