Condemning the TDP Government’s move of lifting cases against its party leaders, including ministers, YSR Congress has said that it would explore legal options as such a move would send wrong signals and lead to anarchy. ‘The state has issued 132 GOs lifting the cases against TDP leaders and many of them are criminal cases against ministers, MLAs, MLCs and former elected representatives along with Assembly speaker as well.
We condemn such a move as this would be sending wrong signals and we will move courts on the issue,’ party spokesperson Vasidreddy Padma told reporters here on Friday. ‘TDP leaders are charged with serious charges and are facing criminal cases. State minister Atcham Naidu faces the charge of atrocities against women. Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, Devineni Umamaheshwarao, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna along with Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao were facing serious charges and the Government has lifted the cases by issuing 132 GOs during the past three years,’ she said.
The policy of TDP has been to publicly announce that there would be no cases if you sail with the ruling party and if you are with the Opposition false cases would be foisted and sent to jail. This was amply evident in case of Bhuma Nagi Reddy, who was called rowdy while he was in opposition and many cases including SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) case were foisted. Once he crossed floor, all cases were wiped out and a clean chit was given.
We do not know how many GOs Chandrababu Naidu government has given for the welfare of the people but it has given a whopping 132 GOs to pull out TDP leaders from the cases they are facing, she said. Such measures would send wrong signals and we will explore the legal options and fight it out, she said.
