In a shocking road accident, as many as 20 people were killed and 10 others were injured when a lorry hit an electric pole and further rammed into a general store in Chittoor on Friday.
According to reports, the ghastly road mishap occurred on the Putalapattu-Naidupeta road. The lorry was coming from Srikalahasti towards Tirupati at the time of mishap.
The driver lost the control over the vehicle and hit the electric pole. the live wires snapped causing electrocution to a few and the latter rammed into pedestrains. Six people were died on the spot and the condition of several injured is stated to be critical. The injured were shifted to a near by hospital.
Traffic came to a standstill on all directions on the Yerpedu, Srikalahasti, Renigunta and Tirupati routes. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the accident.
